Overview of the Campaign
The Secure Zambia: Uniting Against Crime campaign is a national initiative designed to combat crime across all districts and provinces of Zambia. The campaign aims to reduce crime rates by fostering public awareness, community engagement, and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, civil society organizations, and the general public.
Key Aspects of the Campaign
- Public Awareness: The campaign will conduct educational programs to inform citizens about crime prevention strategies. These programs will be disseminated through media campaigns, workshops, and seminars across Zambia.
- Community Engagement: The initiative will empower communities by establishing neighborhood watch programs and holding regular meetings to foster collaboration between residents and law enforcement. The goal is to encourage active community participation in monitoring and reporting suspicious activities.
- Strategic Partnerships: The campaign involves collaboration with law enforcement agencies such as the DEC, ACC, Zambia Police, Immigration Department, Human Rights Commission, and Zambia Correctional Service. Experts from these agencies will participate in public gatherings, rallies, workshops, and seminars, providing essential guidance and training.
- Vocational Skills Training: A key element of the campaign is offering vocational skills to crime victims, ex-convicts, stray youths, the less privileged, and others. This is aimed at rehabilitating and reintegrating these individuals into society, reducing the likelihood of reoffending.
